Kogi Government awards contract for Osara Water Project
…as contractor promise completion in 24 months.
The Kogi State Government, through its Ministry for Water Resources has presented a letter of award of Contract for the recently approved Osara Water Project to the contractor, BILVISCO Investment Limited.
The event held on Tuesday at the office of the Commissioner for Water Resources within the State Secretariat complex.
The Commissioner, Mallam Abdulmumin Danga who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Eng. Victor Dan noted that the Osara water project covers Adavi, Okene and Okehi local government areas and their environs, describing it as another of Governor Yahaya Bello’s commitment to improving the living standard of the people.
He pointed out that there has been an increase in the demand and need for portable water all across the state and particularly within the Kogi Central region where their has been scarcity of water overtime.
Mallam Danga noted that the water project was timely as indigenes of these region go through rigorous effort to get access to portable water which reduces their domestic productivity and causes low school attendance.
Speaking on behalf of the contractor, the Principal Consultant BILVISCO Investment Limited, Mr. William Omojasola stated that the company came to the state to get water across to the people, especially those in Kogi Central.
He noted that BILVISCO Limited has been able to demonstrate its commitment to making portable water available in the State, by its selfless investment in the water project in the region for the last 3 years.
Mr. William thanked the state Governor for the privilege given to partner with the state in such noble cause, while he also extended his gratitude to the State Executive Council for the kind consideration and approval.
The Principal Consultant also extended his appreciation to the Commissioner, Management and Staff of the Ministry of Water Resources, for their support throughout the process, and thanked the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and other Ohi’s in the region for their cooperation.
He assured that they would use the latest technology to deliver water to the region, noting that the project would be completed within the given 24months.
