Kogi Governor Attends 8th Day Fidau Prayer of PA Asiru Ijagbemi, Calls for Unity, Peace

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, attended the 8th Day Fidau prayer for the late Alhaji Pa Asiru Ijagbemi, father of Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, at the deceased’s residence in Bagido, Isanlu, Yagba East LGA, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

During the visit, Governor Ododo extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, describing the occasion as an opportunity to to celebrate the life of PA Asiru and reconnect with close associates. In his address, he emphasized the importance of unity and peace in the state, urging citizens to live in harmony.

“We are not here to mourn our father but to celebrate his life of humility,” Governor Ododo said. “I urge all members of our dear state to live in peace and unity.

On insecurity, the Governor assured that the state is in control noting that Our land belongs to all of us, “so I implore our traditional rulers to refrain from giving out our land to strangers.” He added.

He also charged youths to avoid supplying foods to kidnappers in the bush and buying petrol for their generators in the bush. This he said could inadvertently support criminal activities.

Governor Ododo further advised that as the state approaches election time, the citizens should not to be swayed by false promises, emphasizing the need for leaders to demonstrate their capabilities before declaring their intentions to contest.

He finally extended his special appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, stressing that “Your presence is not required for campaigning in Kogi State; we will show our gratitude for what you have done for our state in other ways.” He concluded.

The Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris FCA thanked Governor and his Team for commemorating with him.
