Kogi Governor-Elect Pledges to Prioritise Welfare of Local Gov’t Workers

Kogi State Governor-Elect, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman has promised that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of civil servants, especially teachers and local government workers across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Alhaji Ododo made the pledge yesterday in Lokoja during an end-of-the-year programme organised by the office of Kogi State Auditor-General for Local Government.

The Governor-Elect who was represented by one of his allies and an APC stalwart, Comrade Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege, popularly known as Fancy, said the incoming administration would evolve implementable modalities to put smiles on the faces of all Local Government Staff and the entire state when inaugurated into office next month.

Alhaji Ododo who was conferred with an award of exemplary leadership, appreciated the staff of the Auditor-General for Local Government, just as he assured them that the victory of the APC in the last election is a victory for all of them and Kogi State in general irrespective of affiliations.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari, expressed optimism that Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo would ensure a better deal that would turn around the fortunes of its citizens for the better.

Comrade Gabriel Amari further stated that the joyous staff of the office of Auditor-General for Local Government conferred an award on the Governor-elect for his humility, politeness, astuteness and dedication to the course of building a prosperous Kogi State, adding that Alhaji Ododo is a progressive-minded leader with practical ideas for the development of the state.

The NLC boss described Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as a simple man whose sense of listening put him ahead of many politicians, noting that his encounter with him shows that he is a good man with sincerity of purpose who would prosper and take Kogi state to greater heights.

He further expressed the belief that Ododo would bring to bear his wealth of knowledge which he used to transform the office of the Auditor-General for Local Government to build and promote the gains already being experienced.

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar, who was represented by the Majority Leader also commended the effort of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman in reforming the agency to be one of the best in Kogi State, assuring the Agency and the entire Kogites that as the leader of the legislative arm, his door would always be open for consultation to move the state forward.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Director of Audit in the office of the Auditor-General for Local Government, Mr Monday Ekpa, had explained how the Governor-elect had brought synergy among the units and departments in the office and praised Ododo’s proficiency and diligence in discharging his duty.

He expressed the belief that the incoming Governor would meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people when he assumes office.

Staff of the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government, in their goodwill messages, all applauded Alhaji Ododo and expressed hope that he would move the state to the next stage of growth.

Some other notable staff of the office of Auditor-General that were awarded were Mr. Muhammed Irikiti, Madam Ruth Babatunde S., Mrs Sharon Bidemi (PA to Acting Auditor-General), Mr Victor Al-Hassan, Mr Otola Ugbede Stanley, and Abdulazeez Omeiza.
