Kogi Govt Congratulates Prof. Joash Amupitan on Appointment as INEC Chairman

The Kogi State Government has congratulated Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, on his appointment as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, on Thursday, the state government described the appointment as a reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to excellence, merit, and inclusiveness in the leadership of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Fanwo noted that Prof. Amupitan, a distinguished son of Kogi State, has earned national and international recognition for his contributions to legal scholarship, public administration, and the advancement of justice. He added that the new INEC Chairman’s integrity, impartiality, and intellectual depth will further strengthen the nation’s electoral system.

“The Government and people of Kogi State express profound appreciation to President Tinubu for finding our illustrious son worthy of this national assignment. Prof. Amupitan’s appointment is a validation of hard work, merit, and patriotism,” the statement read in part.

Fanwo further assured that the people of Kogi State are confident Prof. Amupitan will justify the trust reposed in him and continue to bring honour to both the state and the nation through his service and commitment to credible elections.

He concluded by wishing the new INEC Chairman divine wisdom, strength, and success as he takes on the responsibility of overseeing Nigeria’s electoral processes.
