Kogi Govt Partners State NUP to Implement Pensioners’ Contributory Health Insurance Plan

The Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), for the onboarding of her members Into the State Health Insurance Scheme.

This followed the directive of the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, The Executive Governor of Kogi State who prioritizes the health and general well-being of the Pensioners in the State who have contributed immensely to the development of the State and as such, deserves access to quality healthcare.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the State by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Pastor (Mrs) Folashade Ariko Ayoade, PhD. While the chairman of the State NUP Engr. Clement Ohida signed on behalf of the State Pensioners.

The signing of the MoU heralds the enrollment of the Pensioners into the State Health Insurance Agency’s Pensioners Contributory Health Insurance Program (PENCHIP).

The State Governor in his magnanimity also declared free health insurance plan for Pensioners earning less than fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) to provide them financial risk protection while Pensioners earning above fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) will contribute between Six hundred and twenty five naira (N625.00) to One thousand two hundred and fifty naira (N1,250.00) to access quality healthcare services in any accredited health facilities of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, KGSHIA, closer to their residence.

The PENCHIP program will soon be flagged off for the benefit of the Pensioners which will no doubt address some of the age-related health conditions affecting the pensioners.
