Kogi Govt Urges Citizens to Support Anti-Violence ‘Not-In-My-State’ Initiative
The Kogi State Government has issued a strong call to its citizens, urging them to support the “Not-In-My-State” movement aimed at curbing violent protests. The administration emphasized its solidarity with the federal government’s efforts to revive Nigeria’s economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a recent press release, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, outlined the government’s commitment to economic recovery.
Fanwo said the federal government has introduced fiscal and monetary policies and economic incentives targeting agriculture, industrialization, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
He noted that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration in Kogi State has aligned with these national efforts by investing heavily in local agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, adding that the state has provided palliatives to mitigate the impact of economic hardships on households.
Fanwo stressed the importance of responsible citizenship, urging residents to support governmental efforts at all levels. He argued that protests would only be justified if the government were inactive or ineffective. Currently, he believes that protests would undermine the nation’s rebuilding process and evoke memories of the destructive #EndSARS protests.
The commissioner highlighted credible intelligence indicating that certain opposition figures are attempting to destabilize the nation by inciting protests. He condemned these actions as unpatriotic and called on citizens to reject such influences.
Fanwo expressed pride in reports that Kogi citizens are prepared to support President Tinubu’s economic initiatives. He reassured that the state’s administration will continue to invest in measures to alleviate economic challenges, promote industrialization, and reduce food prices through agricultural investments.
He said the government also plans to enhance public awareness through increased efforts by the State Ministry of Information and Communications. Parents and guardians were specifically urged to guide their wards against participating in violent protests.
