The People’s Democratic Party and other opposition parties have continued to record more woes in the build up to the November 11 polls as the All Progressive Congress on Monday emptied key members from the opposing PDP in Ogori Magongo.
Those who decamped officially from the opposition party included, the immediate past chairman of the party in the LG, Hon. Emmanuel Olufade, Former PDP LG Secretary Ogori/Magongo, Hon. David Shado, Ogori/Magongo LGA PDP Chieftain, Hon. David Black Olowu, Former PDP LG Legal Adviser, Ogori/Magongo PDP- Hon. Sunday Akpata, Former PDP LG Financial Secretary Ogori/Magongo – Hon. Taiye Owolabi Paul, and many others.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, APC party leader, Engineer Ezekiel Sunday asserted that the calibre of the personalities decamping from the opposing PDP were strong indications of the death and extinction of the PDP in the LGA.
He alluded that in Ogori Magongo LG, those joining the APC are top officials of the PDP and were taking such steps because of the good gestures of the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello particularly in areas of security and electricity. He added that before the emergence of his government the LGA was in total darkness, but seven years down the line under the New Direction government, they have enjoyed steady power
Engineer Ezekiel noted that insecurity which used to be an issue of concern in the past years have been levelled to the ground as indigenes have enjoyed safe and secured environment.
Adding his voice, a former House of Assembly member, Hon.Gabriel Odaudu noted that the efforts spear headed by the chairman of the Local Government and other stakeholders in the party in ensuring that the APC wins massively in the Local Government has since been yielding positive outcomes noting that the decamping event of the top ranking PDP officials in the Local government was a strong feat.
While commending the governor for his numerous good works in the Local government, he added that APC stakeholders in the Local government have resolved to work together to deliver the Alhaji Ahmed ododo at the November 11 polls, as there is no place for any opposition party in the Local government.
In his remarks, Governor Yahaya Bello thanked the people of Ogori Magongo for their support of his administration, pointing out that one of his key initiatives during his first term was the electrification of Ogori which he believed had the tendency to transform the socio-economic lives of the people and the region.
The Governor who pointed out that the Local Government is blessed with credible personalities, lauded the chairman of Ogori Magongo Honorable Goke Oparison, for his commendable stewardship, particularly in the area of security attesting that the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government has performed his task diligently and has at several occasions led from the front in rooting out criminals from every corners of the LG and sometimes beyond.
While the governor welcomed the new members from the opposition, he noted that in the APC there is no disparities between new and old members, as value addition was a crucial indices to ranking in the party
He asked them to work gallantly and let their contribution speak for them, noting that he was optimistic that the central region would have an 100% winning result at the November 11 polls with the recent developments in ogori magongo. The governor assured the people that his administration would continue to work diligently until the end of his tenure, emphasizing that Ogori Magongo would remain a focal point of his attention.
Earlier while welcoming the new member of the All Progressive Congress, the State Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello said that the decision made by the former People Democratic Party’s chairman, alongside other top stakeholders of the party in Ogori magongo to join the fold of the APC was very bold decision and a strong pointer that the government of APC has performed well to their acknowledgement.
An high point of the occasion was an immediate directive issued by the governor to the Kogi state Ministry of Works to commence the rehabilitation of the Ogori-Ageva road.
