Kogi Guber: Gov. Bello inaugurates state Campaign Council, charge members, supporters to canvass with administration’s achievements

….a party without representation, structure cannot take power – DG, Audu

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has charged members of the All Progressives Congress’ 2023 governorship campaign council as well as party supporters to shun violence and canvass for their candidates base on the current administration’s numerous achievements adding that the party’s victory at the polls is in the interest of the state.

Governor Bello made this known on Tuesday while inaugurating the Kogi State Campaign Council for the 2023 gubernatorial election for the November 11 at the Glasshouse of the government House, Lokoja.

Governor Bello asked the campaign council and supporters of the APC not to preach ethnicity or religion but speak to the people about what his government had achieved in the last seven years and the ability of the governorship candidate, Usman Ododo, to consolidate effectively on the current administration’s successes.

He noted that those preaching tribalism and ethnicity, were after their selfish interest urging members and supporters of the party not to join issues with others who do not have anything to offer in terms of adding value to the state and its inhabitants.

“Forget about liars, whose stock in trade is thuggery with nothing to offer. Go out there and preach what we have on ground in terms of infrastructure, not about ethnicity. Kogi State belongs to all of us. I have always said that Kogi State has the potential to be great if only we stop playing politics of ethnicity. I want all of you to go and work for the success of the party and you will be adequately rewarded.” he assured.

The State Director-General of the Kogi APC 2023 Gubernatorial Campaign Council and Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu in his remarks urged Kogi indigenes to unite and support the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Alhaji Usman Ododo at the forth coming gubernatorial elections so as to benefit maximally from the numerous programmes, plans and initiatives of the President Tinubu led administration.

He added that citizens should desist from the idea that a party without strong representation at the center and a political structure at strategic levels of government will win the gubernatorial polls and make any remarkable impact to the growth and development of the state. The DG again charged the people to shun ethnic agenda which according to him would not bring about development to the state.

The pointed out that his father, the late Prince Abubakar Audu had a Pan-Kogi vision, which did not focus on the growth and development of one region but the state in entirety, a cause which he championed in his lifetime, noting that any agenda that focuses on the single ethnic group without considering the challenges and the broad nature of Kogi politics is serving a selfish interest.

He noted that in the last eight years, Governor Yahaya Bello has built on his father’s vision for the state and has further demonstrated his legacy through appointments, distribution and execution of projects across the three senatorial districts of the state without bias or sentiment.
