Kogi Guber: Kogi needs an APC government for continuity, consolidation – President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged citizens that Kogi state needed an All Progressive Congress government for the purpose of continuity and consolidation of several ongoing developmental strides and the fruition of numerous plans of the Federal Government.
The president who was represented by his vice, Senator Kashim Shettima said this when interacting with the Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Lokoja. The vice President was in the state for the official Flag off of the All Progressive Congress governorship campaign Council.
While noting that the President means well for the people of kogi state he mentioned that the state with so much economic and industrial potential cannot afford to fall into hostile hands.
He announced that the president had just approved funds for the construction of Ganaja roads, while other Federal Government roads within the state, including the Abuja – Lokoja – Okene roads would receive expedited attention.
He pointed out that the FG under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intended for the state’s natural resources of Kogi to work for its citizens, hence the strategic appointment of Prince Shaibu Audu Abubakar as the Minister of Steel Development whose late father, Prince Audu Abubakar laid landmarks in the sands of time and could be acknowledged as the architect of modern kogi state.
The Vice President hinted that the conversation for the completion of Ajaokuta and Itapke steel plants were top of the agenda in his recent visit to Russia adding that the Ajaokuta company can be a game changer for the Nation.
He said that the industry has the capacity to assist the FG in meeting its 8-point agenda with respect specifically to Job creation and foreign direct investment. The Vice president added that the plant had the capacity to produce components for CNG buses which were part of the FG’s gas masterplan to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
While the vice president thanked the traditional rulers, party leaders and other stakeholders, he urged citizens to urge citizens to use diversity as source of strength and support a government that guaranteed them a strong footing at the centre of affairs in the nation as against hostile opponents.
Governor Bello in his address assured the Vice President and other party leaders that the APC in the state was firmly united as his government had enjoyed a good working relationship with the royal fathers and the citizens of Kogi state are in our support of his government.
Governor Bello also assured the party leaders that the election will be smooth, fair and credible and the campaign will be issue based as his government has achieved so much that it will use to canvass to the people adding that Kogi state cannot afford to fall into the hands of opposition
He said his administration met a state that was more or less below its status, but through tremendous and deliberate efforts in several areas, they have positively positioned the confluence state to compete favourably with other state of the federation.
He pointed out that considering the strategic location of the state, proximity with the FCT and the number of states it shares boarder with, his government have achieved a lot in the area of security, infrastructural development, human capital development and other things that bothers on good governance and dividend of democracy, adding that he is confident that the incoming governor when voted will build on the legacies his administration will leave behind.
The Atta of Igala and Chairman of Kogi State Traditional Council, HRM Alaji Opaluwa Ogwuche-Akpa who welcomed the Vice President and other party leaders on behalf of the council commended the governor over its efforts in security noting that the government was doing its best. He noted that the traditional council was keenly interested and was actively participating in facilitating a peaceful, free and fair election.
