Kogi Guber: Youths, student bodies meet with Gov. Bello, endorse OAU

Youth and student bodies across Kogi state comprising of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), NYP (Nigeria Youth Parliament) Kogi state, National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), National Association of Nigeria Students (NANs), ANFS (Association of Nigeria Female Students) on Friday gave a joint endorsement of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
Delivering their intent, the speaker of the Kogi State Youth Parliament, RT. Hon. Ibikunle Adebayo Olajide who raised a motion on behalf of all the youth and Student bodies in Kogi state noted that they were poised by Governor Bello’s exceptional performance in the last seven years, hence continuity and consolidation was a non negotiable agenda.
He alluded that their collective endorsement would be further backed with massive mobilization of all of its members and structures across the state in a bid to enlighten members of the public as the November 11, polls draw near.
Earlier the various leaders of respective youth and student bodies in their separate remarks gave accolades to the New Direction government for its focus on the education sector, the well-being of the students and giving the relevant recognition and opportunities for youths in the state in frontline governance.
The Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi state chapter, Comr. Usman Ogohi Samuel, expressed gratitude to the state governor for giving the state youth body the leverage to brag among the comity of states in the country attesting that Kogi is among the very few state that can boast of a befitting youth house in Nigeria.
He assured the governor that the youths would continue to remember him for his kind gestures and posterity would be kind to him, stressing that Governor Bello has demonstrated capacity which has propelled youths to be proud to associate with him. The Chairman also lauded the governor for being equitable and balanced in the distribution of resources across the three senatorial districts.
In his response, Governor Yahaya Yahaya thanked the youth for their continued support of his administration and government alluding that his government decided to leave behind mundane issues of religious, ethnic or any other sentiments to pursue concerns of that would put lasting solutions to issues of deprivation and exploitation of certain resources that belonged to the people of Kogi State.
He explained further that citizens and particularly the youths must join strength with the state government and confront head on those who have decided to plunder the resources of the state without any benefit to the people owing to the fact that certain individuals mortgaged the state for their selfish interest.
Gov. Bello assured that his administration must continue to liberate the state from those who continue to steal from its collective interest adding that the youths were being denied of resources that was supposed to be of tremendous benefits which on the long run would have solved certain needs and requests as well as issues of unemployment.
He pointed that the APC candidate for the November Governorship election would more compassionately continue the struggle in the fight to liberate our state from those who are holding our collective resources to ransom assuring that the years ahead under the next administration of Ahmed Usman Ododo, the state would be the most prosperous state in this country.
Governor Bello however promised that his leadership within the limits of available resources applying stringent managerial needs, would ensure to meet the needs of the youth and student bodies while he assured again that he would continue to provide good leadership devoid of ethnic and religious sentiments or bias.
