Kogi NYCN File Petition Against Chairman for Misconduct, Financial Misappropriation

A petition has been filed against the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter, Comr. Benjamin Jeremiah, over allegations of gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, and breach of the organization’s constitution.

The petition, signed by various state executives of NYCN, which was addressed to the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, accused Benjamin Jeremiah of abuse of power, mismanagement of funds meant for youth programs, and creating factional divisions within the council. The petitioners claim that his actions have negatively impacted the operations and credibility of the organization.

Among the allegations leveled against him are:

  • Abuse of power and manipulation of the organization’s processes for personal gain.
  • Misuse of funds allocated for NYCN programs and initiatives, depriving Kogi youth of essential resources.
  • Violating the constitution of the NYCN by failing to follow established procedures.
  • Fostering division within the council, leading to internal crises.

The executives affirmed that copies of the petition have been forwarded to the NYCN Kogi State Stakeholders Forum, the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Security Service (DSS), and the Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

The petitioners further passed a vote of no confidence on the Chairman and have ratified his suspension, asserting that the actions of Comr. Benjamin Jeremiah have tarnished the image of the NYCN Kogi State chapter and are calling for immediate action to restore the integrity of the organization.
