Following the outcome of the just concluded election of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Kogi State Chapter, which produced Comrade Usman Ogohi as President and other executives of the Council, Comrade Jacob Abraham Damilare the leading aspirant for National President, National Association of Kogi State Students, NAKOSS National, has reigned accolades on the Returning Officer Ambassador Oladele John Nihi, the electoral committee chairman Comrade Babangida Onimisi and his team for conducting what can be best described as a well organized, peaceful, free and fair election devoid of violence and threats of lives and properties of any sort in the State before, during and after the electoral exercise which had the unrestricted participation of duly accredited Voluntary Youth Organisation, VYOs.
Comrade Abraham in a statement issued through the Director General, Abraham Jacob Campaign Organization, Comr. Omale Samuel Urah said the Returning Officer, Electoral Committee Chairman and Members have by their transparent conduct which gave fairness and leveled ground for all contestants and voters to exercise their rights in the Council’s electoral exercise, proven that Youths are truly ready to take charge of the Political Leadership space of the Nation through a fair contest at the poll come 2023.
He expressed satisfaction with the display of the spirit of sportsmanship that existed amongst aspirants particularly with the chairmanship aspirants, saying that such can only be birthed through a harmonious victory where no one felt cheated by the electoral Committee.
Comrade Abraham enjoined Ambassador Oladele John Nihi and Comrade Babangida Onimisi to voluntarily commence sensitization on ways of conducting rancour free elections amongst Youth Organisations in the country, noting that the importance of this admonition can not be overemphasized particularly as we journey into 2023 general election where we are clamouring for Youths to take over Political Leadership Responsibilities from our aged leaders through the Secret Ballot Box Voting Process in the country.
“The need to commend the credible conduct of the National Returning Officer for the Kogi State Chapter election of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Ambassador Oladele John Nihi and the State Electoral Committee Chairman Comrade Onimisi Babangida and his team becomes unavoidable judging from the outcome of the electoral exercise which left no havoc on any individual or property before, during and after the exercise. We are proud of the crops of Youths in Kogi State and their level of advanced civility”.
Abraham insisted that for such an election, anyone could easily predict youth restivenes and social unrest but reverse became the case. According to him, Nihi, Babangida and Kogi Youths in general, deserves to be commended for such display of advanced civility.
He said that this election has set a precedence in the council, challenging Youth groups in the country to emulate Nihi and Babangida’s approaches in the conduct of their elections.
Comr. Abraham further appreciates Governor Yahaya Bello for giving Kogi and Nigerian youths the confidence to believe that their future truly lies in their hands and for being their voice even at their National level.
He expressed optimism that with the ongoing Political reorientation of youths in the country, it is becoming crystal that Youths will be standing up for Youths meaning that come 2023 it will be a “Youth for Youth Something”.
