Kogi NYCN Suspends Chairman Over Gross Financial Misconduct

The Executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter, has suspended its Chairman, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale, over allegations of gross financial misconduct and abuse of office. The decision was announced in a press statement released today after an emergency meeting of of state executives held in Lokoja.

According to the statement jointly signed by state executives and read by the Vice Chairman, Comr. Ibrahim Daniel Ogacheko, the suspension was necessitated by multiple infractions committed by the Chairman, including the diversion and mismanagement of the council’s subvention, unauthorized conversion of the youth house into a beer parlor, and the collection of illegal taxes within and around the council premises.

Other infractions leveled against Comrade Ojodale include using the council’s official vehicle for commercial (taxi) purposes, thereby depriving the council of its intended use, and creating factions within the council to serve personal interests.

The NYCN executive members expressed concern that the Chairman’s actions were undermining the goodwill of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo towards the youths of Kogi State. They emphasized that the Governor has made significant efforts in youth development, and any attempt to derail such progress would not be tolerated.

The suspension marks a major shake-up within the NYCN Kogi State chapter, as stakeholders call for accountability and transparency in the council’s leadership.

The executive body directs the suspended Chairman to submit every council properties in his possession to the next executive below in hierarchy within the next twenty four hours. They assured that necessary steps including further consultation with stakeholders would be taken to restore order and integrity to the council.
