Kogi Poly Commences Perimeter Fencing of Itakpe Campus

Kogi State Polytechnic has begun the perimeter fencing of its Itakpe campus, a significant development aimed at enhancing security and protecting the institution’s assets. The project, which commenced earlier this week, is expected to bolster the overall safety of students, staff, and infrastructure within the campus.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, emphasized the importance of the fencing project when he recieved a delegation of Okebukun traditional council led by the Olu of Okebukun, His Royal Highness, Oba Ige Timothy Omonile in his office on Tuesday. He noted that the initiative aligns with the institution’s ongoing efforts to create a conducive environment for academic activities.

“This perimeter fencing is crucial for safeguarding our students, staff, and properties. It will help prevent unauthorized access and mitigate emcroachment and the risks associated with the location of the campus. We are committed to ensuring that Kogi State Polytechnic remains a safe and secure place for learning and development,” Prof. Ogbo stated.

The Rector who expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for granting the approval and releasing funds for the project, said Governor Ododo has once more proven his commitment to security and wellbeing of students across the state.

The project, which is expected to be completed within the next few months, has been welcomed by students and staff alike. Many expressed relief that the institution is taking concrete steps to address security and encroachment challenges, particularly in light of the growing population and activities on and around the campus.

In addition to improving security, the perimeter fencing is also expected to aid in better management of the campus facilities and resources, as it will help in controlling access points and monitoring movement within the campus premises.

Kogi State Polytechnic, with its main campus in Lokoja, has been committed to expanding its academic programs and infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of students. The Itakpe campus plays a vital role in this expansion, offering specialized programs and serving as a hub for technical education in the state.
