Prof. Ogbo Honours 64 Kogi Poly Staff Members as Tenure Winds Down

The outgoing Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo, on Monday honoured 64 outstanding members of staff with Meritorious Service Awards in recognition of their support during his tenure.

Professor Ogbo said the dedication and hard work of the staff were instrumental to the notable achievements recorded by the institution under his leadership. He described the awardees as the “pillar of strength” and “unsung heroes” behind the successes of his administration.

He commended their extraordinary commitment, drive, selfless service, and professional competence, which he described as unprecedented. According to him, their innovativeness, teamwork, and results-oriented approach made them key players and change agents throughout his tenure.

The Rector expressed special appreciation to drivers, security personnel, messengers, cleaners, management staff, and members of the Academic Board who were among the recipients of the awards. Principal officers of the institution were also honoured, while the late Barrister William Ameh received a posthumous award.

Professor Ogbo further acknowledged the critical role the staff played in supporting sound decision-making, noting that he enjoyed tremendous cooperation and loyalty from them throughout his time in office.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, appreciated Prof. Usman Ogbo for recognizing and appreciating the contributions of staff members to the success of his tenure as Rector. He said the Rector introduced reforms that guided both staff and students in repositioning the institution, adding that he would be greatly missed as he leaves the institution.

Dr. Olowo assured that the discipline and academic standard fn the institution which Professor Ogbo is leaving will be upheld and build upon, stating that they will continue to make him proud.
