Kogi Poly seeks collaboration with estate surveyors, valuers to protect institution lands

A call has been made to land surveyors and valuers to partner with Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja in its quest to protect the institution’s lands and properties from being encroached.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman made the call on Monday, 23rd of August, 2021 when he received the executives of Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Kogi State Branch at the institution’s main campus.

Dr. Usman who described the body as one of the very important bodies in community development noted that the Polytechnic would collaborate with them on academic development.

The Rector disclosed that Kogi State Polytechnic would see to establish the Department of Estate Management in the School of Environmental Technology to boost its manpower capacity.

He reassured the leadership of the body of continued partnership just as he promised to team up with relevant and recognized bodies to make Kogi State Polytechnic more admirable among higher institutions.

Earlier in a remark, the Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Kogi State Branch, ESV. Apeh Phillip commended the Rector for his giant stride on the polytechnic just as he promised the institution of the body’s support to make the establishment of the new department successful.

ESV Phillip said the association which is one of the oldest professional bodies in Nigeria is responsible to help government and private organizations on land acquisition, management and infrastructural development.

He said the institution was ready to provide necessary service to protect the Polytechnic’s lands from grabbers and illegal encroachment.

In a separate remark,the Deputy Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Kehinde Lamidi and The Dean, School of Environmental Technology, Architect Thompson Ekele Ochedi thanked the Estate Surveyors and Valuers for their timely visit and collaboration which they believed would bring more greatness for the Polytechnic.

Other Principal officers of the Polytechnic present at the meeting were the Registrar, Mr. Sunday Aiyeetan, the Bursar, Mr. Adeika Obaro Obadaki, The Polytechnic Librarian, Mrs Ozohu Omolola Mohammed Audu and the Director of Works and Services, Engineer Adamu Ayni Abdullahi.
