Kogi State College of Education Technical Celebrates 13th Matriculation in Grand Style

The Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, marked a significant milestone on May 15, 2025, with the grand celebration of its 13th matriculation ceremony, which was also the first to be held in Mopa.

In his address to the new students, Dr. M.K. Ibrahim, the Provost of the College, congratulated them on this momentous occasion and emphasized the College’s commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment. He urged the students to focus on their studies, strive for excellence, and make the most of the opportunities available to them. The Provost also highlighted the College’s vision for the future, where the institution will be recognized as one of the best in the country, a hub of academic excellence and innovation.

Dr. Ibrahim expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for his visionary leadership and courageous decision to relocate the College to Mopa. The Provost highlighted the governor’s unwavering commitment to the development of the institution, evident in the progress being made.

The Honorable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, ably represented by the Ag. Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Omolayo Onozare, advised students to seize the opportunities available to them to learn and make themselves good members of society.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, represented by the Permanent Secretary Cabinet; the Mopa/Amuro Local Government Chairman; the Kabba/Bunun Local Government Chairman, represented by Hon. Mrs. Grace Dare; the Elulu of Mopa, Oba Dr. Muyiwa Ibeun, represented by the Alamuro of Umuro, Oba Engr. Alfred Aiyedogbodon; and the Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Prof. Kehinde Eniola, represented by Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Usman Ogbo, congratulated the management and students on this milestone, reiterating his confidence in Dr. M.K. Ibrahim’s ability to deliver on his promises, citing his numerous achievements in his former office as evidence. Prof. Ogbo also promised that the Kogi State Polytechnic is open for collaboration with the college for the rapid transformation of the institution.

The former Provost of the College, Dr. Mrs. Victoria Olusola Jagboro, commended Dr. M.K. Ibrahim for the feat he has achieved within the shortest period of his assumption of office.

The matriculation ceremony was a grand success, marking the beginning of a new dawn in the history of Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa.
