Kogi State Deputy Governor performs groundbreaking for New Ogugu Town Hall

The town of Ogugu will, in the next 12 months, get a brand new Town Hall located at its heart as promised the community by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja in October 2019 during the celebration of the inaugural Ogugu Day Celebration at Ogugu Centre.

To this end, the Deputy Governor on Friday performed the groundbreaking for the Town Hall which he promised would be ready on time for New Year celebration next year.

He said the project was made successful through the genuine love of his principal, Governor Bello and other friends of the community and expressed gratitude to the people for their support to the present administration.

Chief Onoja who alluded to the Book of Hebrews 11 in the Bible which states that “Faith is the evidence of things not seen and substance of things hoped for” expressed optimism that the project would be executed on time for the community’s use.

He called on the project Engineer to allow work to go smoothly as monies are made available by those who made pledges just as he recalled the same method had helped with the completion of five similar ones in Adupi, Odidoko, Imane and Ochaja.

The Deputy Governor tasked members of the community to contribute their efforts towards the completion of the project and enjoined those that cannot support it monetarily to do so by volunteering and for those that cannot volunteer to pray for its success and desist from anything that would derail it.

In his earlier remarks, the National Chairman of Ogugu Development Union (ODU) Mr Enemona Anyebe expressed gratitude to the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy for their support for the actualisation of the project.

He also thanked other stakeholders and friends of the community for making necessary sacrifices for the success of the Town Hall and expressed assurances that the project would be ready on time given the person fronting it.

On his part, the project Engineer, Sunny Okoh who explained the specifications of the Town Hall gave assurance that he would work round the clock to ensure he delivered on the mandate.

Highlights of the occasion was the observation of a minute’s silence for the peaceful repose of the Soul of Late Hajiya Rabiyat Bello who the Deputy Governor described as his Elder Sister, presentation of the traditional Kolanut by Ag Ochogu of Ogugu and special prayer for the Governor and his Deputy, their families and the state.

Administrators of some Local Government Areas in Kogi East, former political appointees, community leaders, friends of the Deputy Governor, APC stalwarts were among numerous others present at the occasion.
