Kogi State Government Denies Allegations of Selling Palliative Rice

The Kogi State Government has issued a strong denial of recent allegations that palliative rice distributed to citizens is being repackaged and sold in markets. In a press statement, the government described these claims as “misleading and entirely false.”

According to the statement issued by the state commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojoma, said, the distributed rice is clearly labeled with “Not for Sale” markings, and monitoring teams are in place to oversee proper distribution. The government stated that an investigation into the allegations found no supporting evidence.

He noted that the “rice palliatives were distributed over a month ago, before the Sallah celebration, with numerous beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the support provided by His Excellency.” The government believes that the false claims may be an attempt to discredit its efforts to assist the populace.

The Commissioner emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards any diversion of public resources, particularly those intended for the needy. He urged citizens to be wary of misinformation and to seek information from credible sources.

The government reassured the public of its commitment to continue monitoring and addressing any misinformation that undermines its initiatives.
