Kogi State Government Orders Total Stoppage of Illegal Mining
Kogi State Government through the Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural resources has directed the total stoppage of illegal mining in the state.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashir Gegu and made available to journalists, said the activities of unknown operators is posing security threats and therefore, directed all operators to register with the ministry in order to ascertain genuine miners to enhance peace and criminal free sites.
Gegu said failure to adhere to the directive, the state will close down the erring mining operators and sites.
