Kogi State Government Strengthens Partnership with Lower Niger River Basin Authority to Boost Agricultural Development

The Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has initiated a high-level engagement with the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority.

The state delegation, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, held a crucial meeting with the Managing Director of the Authority, Engr. George Olushola Olumoroti, in Ilorin. The meeting also had in attendance Ambassador Dr. Aina Olusiji, Head of the State Governance Delivery Unit.

The dialogue focused on fostering a stronger partnership that aligns with the strategic objectives of Governor Ododo’s Five-Year Agricultural Development Plan, which aims to transform Kogi State’s agricultural sector and ensure sustainable food security.

Speaking during the meeting, Asiru Idris stressed the importance of collaboration with the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in driving agricultural growth. He noted that access to technical expertise and infrastructural support from the Authority would be instrumental in boosting production and improving livelihoods across the state.

In his remarks, Engr. Olumoroti reaffirmed the Authority’s readiness to support Kogi State’s agricultural initiatives. He emphasized the agency’s commitment to providing the necessary resources and technical assistance to help actualize the state’s agricultural vision.

Amb. Dr. Aina Olusiji highlighted the role of effective governance in achieving agricultural transformation. He commended the proactive efforts of both the state government and the Authority in aligning their goals for the collective good of the people.
