Kogi Gov’t Hands Over Reference Hospital to New CMD

Kogi state government on the 9th of August 2023, officially handed over the newly constructed and well equipped Reference hospital in Okene to newly appointed Chief Medical Director, Prof. Solomon Avidime.

The Governor who was represented by the state commissioner for health, Dr. Zakari Usman took the pioneer CMD round the state of art medical facility. While congratulating Prof. Solomon Avidime on his well deserved appointment, he urged the new CMD to bring his wealth of experience in medicine and administration to bear in the management of this world class health facility in the state

This hospital has high-tech, state of the art medical equipments which includes Mammographic Machine, CT Scan Machine, Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) machines, and a Hyperbaric chamber, the only hospital that has hyperbaric oxygen machine in Nigeria.

The pioneer CMD, Prof. Solomon Avidime (MBBS, MIAD, Pgd Mgt, FWACS/OG, FICS) is Professor of Obstetrics and Gyncology, Ahmadu Bello University, chief consultant ABU teaching hospital who specializes infertility and gynae endoscopy,
Prof Avidime has with over 25 years experience in professional practice.

Earlier, the Ebira Doctors Forum has applauded his appointment as highly deserving as his reputation precedes him in the world of medical field, they stated that Prof. Avidime is a scholar with integrity and a professional with a passion for health care.

The Okene LGA chairman, Hon Abdulrasaq Mohammed who recieved the new CMD in his office, assured him of relevant stakeholders support and proper security of the facility to enable the institution perform effectively.

Prof. Avidime appreciated Gov. Yahaya Bello for the trust set on him to take off the management of Okene Reference hospital as the pioneer CMD, and assure the state government that he will deliver his best in taking full responsibility to see the huge investment of the State government have a positive impacts on the lives of kogites in particular and Nigerians in large health wise. He stated that the hospital is open for all and will be taking care of all medical challenges of the people. He reinstated that the Reference hospital remained a world-class facility ready to cater for healthcare needs of both local and international clients that will definitely put an end to medical tourism in Nigeria.
