Kogi Youth Commissioner Attends National Consultative Meeting, Advocates for Enhanced Youth Development Policies

The Kogi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, made significant contributions during a consultative meeting held on Friday, which brought together Youth Commissioners from across the country. The meeting, convened by the Federal Ministry of Youth, was aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening multi-stakeholder engagements in preparation for the forthcoming National Council on Youth.

Honourable Anyebe, representing Kogi State, used the platform to address the state’s leading role in youth engagement and development in Nigeria. He articulated the various policies of the Kogi State Government that are specifically focused on empowering the youth, asserting that Kogi State has been at the forefront of youth engagement initiatives.

He emphasized that the Kogi State Government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has surpassed the 30% Youth Quota on all appointments, stressing the government is committed to playing a pivotal role in the implementation and domestication of other of Federal Ministry’s policies and programs at the state level particularly the Restructured Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), and the Presidential Initiatives on Youth Enterprise Clusters (PIYEC).

He further stressed some of the state’s ongoing initiatives, which align with the Federal Government’s youth-focused programs. According to Honourable Anyebe, Kogi State has already established some youth enterprise hubs and skill acquisition centers, designed to equip young people with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in today’s economy.

“As a state that prioritizes youth development, we are committed to ensuring that the policies of the Federal Ministry are not only implemented but also tailored to meet the specific needs of our youth,” he added. Honourable Anyebe assured that Kogi State would continue to lead by example, setting the standard for other states in terms of youth engagement and development.

The consultative meeting also saw the unveiling of key initiatives by the Federal Ministry of Youth, including the Restructured Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), which aims to provide financial support to young entrepreneurs across the country. The meeting underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between state and federal governments to ensure the success of these programs in line with the renewed hope agenda of president Bola Tinubu.

Honourable Anyebe reaffirmed Kogi State’s dedication to youth development, stating, “We are not just participants in these initiatives; we are pioneers in creating opportunities for our youth. Kogi State will continue to champion the cause of young people, ensuring they have a significant role in the future of our state and nation.”
