Kogi Youth Commissioner Rallies Support for Governor Ododo at Stakeholders Meeting

The Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, on Thursday hosted an interactive meeting with the state and local government executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in his office.

The high-level engagement, led by the Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah, and the Chairman of the Elders Advisory Council, Comrade Haroon Opotu, centered on fostering unity within the council and aligning its activities with the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. Key items on the agenda included strategies for youth mobilization, support for the governor’s youth-focused initiatives, the mobilization for robust registration on the youth database, and preparations for the NYCN local government chapter elections scheduled for 2025.

Addressing the gathering, Honourable Anyebe reiterated the state government’s commitment to youth empowerment and called on the council to ensure unity among its members. He emphasized that a cohesive NYCN would play a pivotal role in actualizing Governor Ododo’s vision for the youths of Kogi State.

“The administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is deeply committed to creating opportunities for our youths. Your unity and support as a council are essential in ensuring the successful implementation of our initiatives,” Anyebe said.

He said the Youth Digital Database recently launched by the governor is to store the various skills and talents of the youth to enable the government discover them for proper application of their God given talents and skills toward the growth and development of the state. Anyebe urged the council executives and stakeholders to be sincere in their dealings with one another as Kogi State is already setting the standard for youth empowerment and inclusion in Nigeria.

In their submissions, council members discussed various issues affecting their operations, including the need to set up an electoral committee for the forthcoming NYCN local government chapters’ elections. They pledged to prioritize unity and align their efforts with the government’s developmental goals for the youth.

The Chairman of Elders Advisory Council, Comrade Haroon Opotu praised Honourable Anyebe’s role as an adviser and mediator during the meeting. His said the commissioner’s ability to bring stakeholders together and foster collaboration has reaffirmed his reputation as a visionary leader. His push for youth mobilization and the establishment of a comprehensive database was lauded as a critical step towards inclusive governance and data-driven policymaking.

At the close of the meeting, NYCN executives renewed their commitment to supporting the Ododo administration, promising to champion initiatives that would empower the youth and drive sustainable development across the state.
