KSCOE Technical Holds Inaugural Governing Council Meeting

Chairman Reaffirms Commitment, Provost Highlights Relocation Progress and Challenges
The Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, held the inaugural meeting of its 4th Governing Council.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Ibrahim Enebe Abdulraheem, expressed deep gratitude to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, for appointing members of the council and reposing confidence in their abilities. He assured that the council would justify this trust by working collectively with Management, Staff, and students to advance the institution.
Hon. Abdulraheem noted that the responsibilities before the council are enormous, requiring sacrifice, accountability, and collaboration. He commended the Provost, Dr. M. K. Ibrahim, for his commitment to repositioning the College since assuming office in April 2025, and expressed optimism that other principal officers and heads of departments would lend their support.
The Chairman further assured that the council would prioritize academic excellence, staff and student welfare, accountability, and probity, while promoting programmes that respond to modern industry demands.
He also lauded the establishment of three study centers in Oboreke (Okehi LGA), Isanlu (Yagba East LGA), and Obajana (Lokoja LGA).
In his inaugural address, the Provost, Dr. M. K. Ibrahim, outlined the progress and challenges of relocating the College from Kabba to Mopa. He explained that when he assumed office in April 2025, the College was still largely operating from Kabba, but significant steps have since been taken to fully establish operations in Mopa.
The Provost disclosed that key academic and administrative activities, including the College Assembly, Management and Academic Board meetings, as well as the 13th Matriculation Ceremony, have already been held in Mopa.
Dr. Ibrahim revealed that to tackle absenteeism and truancy, a two-stage staff audit was conducted, which has improved commitment to duty.
He further highlighted capacity-building initiatives, including technical training in AutoCAD and Revit BIM, as well as a computer proficiency test for staff, aimed at driving the College’s digital transformation.
To boost internally generated revenue, the Provost announced the establishment of a College Block Factory, which is already operational, with plans for additional entrepreneurial ventures. He also reaffirmed the College’s strong relationship with the host community, noting that the College Clinic would soon be open to residents during student vacations.
The Provost commended the education-friendly Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support to the College. He noted that the Governor has already begun addressing the major challenges facing the institution, and expressed confidence that under his administration, the College will soon experience significant transformation and wear a new look
Concluding his remarks, Dr. Ibrahim expressed strong belief in the capacity of the new Governing Council to steer the College through its challenges. “The journey ahead will be demanding, but with your leadership we will build a College that will stand among the best,” he affirmed.
