LGA elections: Kogi Info Commissioner Refutes Online Publication »

Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo has refuted an online publication stating that he announced that Local Government Council Elections in the state would hold next month.

In a statement released from the office of the Hon Commissioner and signed by the Director, New Media, Mr Ebenezer Adurodija, the Commissioner said the news published by an online blog (Opera News) is not only false but outrightly fake.

The statement stated further that at no time did the Commissioner make such statement, pointing out that it is not the duty of the Executive to make preparations for or organise elections.

It stressed that it is the statutory responsibility of the State Independent Election Commission to carry out such exercise and set date for Local Government Elections as enshrined in the relevant extant laws of the State.

The statement, therefore, call on the general public to discountenance the said publication, stressing that the publication is outright falsehood and a figment of the author`s imagination.
