Light Up Movement Engages With KERC

The Leadership of Light Up Movement, on Wednesday, met with the management of the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja.
The Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Sunday Abdulwaris, in his address, welcomed the body and expressed readiness to work closely with the movement.
He said from the objectives of the movement that he has gathered, the set aims of the two organizations aligned, noting the need for the duo to close ranks.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the movement, Comrade Iliyasu Zakari had highlighted the objectives of Light Up, stressing that the formation of the Commission came at a time the movement was already working on a bill for its formation.
He expressed the readiness of the movement to work closely with the commission.

Other commissioners in the commission highlighted the legal and engineering modus of the commission and said they were prepared to face the task of the new electricity dispensation in the state.
To this end, the commission informed that a new electricity company, the Kogi State Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, will soon come on stream and take over the responsibility of power distribution in the state.
KERC also gave its preparedness to collaborate with Light Up Movement in its forthcoming Stakeholders Engagement scheduled for later in the year.
