Lokoja LG Concludes Three-Day Training to Enhance Birth Registration

The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has encouraged both indigenes and residents to take advantage of the new digital system approach to register their children not only for it’s place in National Planing but because Birth Registration is a fundamental human right, enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child.
The Council Chairman who was represented by the Vice Chairperson, Hon. Patricia Balogun at the end of the 3-day training for the 10 Ward Coordinators on Child Birth Registration urged the public to key into the drive to boast birth registration of their children.
The Chairman informed the Coordinators that the training, a trapatite collaboration between the National Population Commission (NPC), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and ALGON is a very important assignment. “The Vital Reg represents a significant leap in government’s efforts to modernize and strengthen its birth registration system. By transitioning from manual processes to a digital platform, VitalReg enhances efficiency, accuracy and accessibility thereby contributing to a more robust Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS).”
While handing the VitalReg Devices to the Ward Coordinators, she commends the NPC team led by Mr. Ehimony Festus and the Lokoja Local Government Focal person
Usman Umar for the painstaking exercise, noting that the trainees have no doubt gained the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support the implementation and utilisation of the VitalReg system.
She also urged the Coordinators to cooperate with all relevant stakeholders at the communitylevel to ensure the success of the programme.
