Mammoth Crowd Welcomes Governor Ododo Back to Kogi After Tribunal Victory

A mammoth crowd of excited residents gathered in Lokoja on Thursday to welcome Governor Ododo back to the capital following his significant victory at the election tribunal. The tribunal, which had been deliberating on allegations of election malpractice, upheld Ododo’s election, affirming his mandate as the duly elected governor of Kogi State.

Thousands of jubilant supporters thronged the streets, waving banners and chanting slogans in praise of the governor. The atmosphere was festive, with music, dancing, and colorful displays reflecting the people’s enthusiasm. Many residents of Kogi State, alongside political allies and party members, participated in the celebrations, demonstrating the broad base of support for Ododo’s administration.

Governor Ododo, visibly moved by the turnout, addressed the crowd at the state’s government house. He expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from the people of Kogi State and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. “This victory is not just mine but ours,” Ododo declared. “Together, we have shown that democracy and the will of the people prevail.”

Governor Ododo remarked that the tribunal’s affirmation of his victory provides additional motivation for his administration to continue advancing social welfare, safeguarding lives and property, increasing access to free education and quality healthcare, promoting industrialization and agricultural development, and ensuring peaceful coexistence among the state’s citizens.

The tribunal’s decision, delivered on Monday, dismissed all petitions against Ododo’s election by the Social Democratic Party and it’s candidate Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, citing lack of substantial evidence.
