Misunderstood No More: The True Story of Engr. Bashir Gegu Compassion
Throughout human history, a timeless truth prevails because no matter how tirelessly you work to uplift lives, attract development and drive others’ successes, a small but vocal group of egocentric individuals, fueled by unchecked biases will inevitably distort your intentions to sow discord and hatred.
As it goes, here is a brief of a young man called Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, a highly influential, result-oriented, compassionate yet misunderstood leader from Kogi Koton Karfe Local Government, Kogi State.
Born in Gegu Beki of Koton Karfe LGA and graduated as a Chemical Engineer from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2009. His illustrious career spans politics, governance and entrepreneurship, serving as Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources since January 29, 2020 to date.
The young North Central rising star who rises amidst several odd, stands as a shining exemplar of time and season and driven by an unfettered commitment to the greater good of his people has held various key roles, including Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor, APC Local Government Collation Agent; Member of APC Reconciliatory and Decamping Committee, Member of the Kogi Governorship Election Review Committee and Chairman of MIREMCO amongst many others.
As a strong advocate for youth empowerment and community development, Engr. Bashir Gegu believes in equality and progress. His notable achievements include facilitating an ultra-modern hospital in Gegu Beki, building a block of classrooms, providing job opportunities and security, upgrading the traditional stool, settling students’ fees, empowering men and women, and ensuring the total clampdown of illegal exploitation and mining of Kogi State’s Natural resources.
His leadership philosophy, rooted in empathy, inclusive decision–making, and transparency, has earned him numerous prestigious awards and chieftaincy titles which include Ondaki Ireku of Koton-karfe, Sardauna of Gegu Beki, Jagora Matasa of Abaji, Madugu Uban Tofiya of Girinya and Sarkin Yaki GYB/OAU, amongst others in recognition of his tireless commitment to championing the course of marginalized communities.
However, critics and naysayers have maliciously questioned his intentions and baseless rumors have been spread to tarnish his reputation yet he remains compassionate in ensuring quality service delivery.
Despite facing unfounded criticism and malicious rumors, Engr. Bashir Gegu remains steadfast in his commitment to compassionate leadership, undeterred by negativity and focused on delivering exceptional service to the community.
As a mentor to many young people, his commitment to community service and youth empowerment inspires. His leadership, vision, and selflessness have earned him recognition, solidifying his position as one of the rising North Central star in Nigerian politics.
Engr. Bashir Gegu is happily married with children and enjoys politicking, creative thinking, traveling, soccer and reading.
