My administration will not accept shabby jobs – Gov. Bello to contractors
…gives 3 months deadline to deliver quality work.
The Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello has berrated the Chinese contractor handling the renovation of the State’s Specialist Hospital, Lokoja for executing a below standard work while delaying the delivery of the project.
The governor gave the contracting firm, Changjiang Nig Ltd, till December to deliver a quality work.
The Governor stated that his administration would never accept such shabby quality of work which he stated was largely below the standard of project in his government while he expressed total displeasure with the concerned ministries and parastatals.
He stressed that it was unimaginable that his administration was spending so much funds with the quality of work ongoing adding that they have breached the part of contract on delivery.
He stressed that he has never recommended any contractor for projects in the state adding that those that recommended and certified the contractor to the government would be held responsible.
Governor Bello was on Thursday on a tour of ongoing projects across the state capital, Lokoja inspected the Ganaja Fly over, embankment projects along old market , GYB Model schools, Kogi State Specialist Hospital renovation and other projects.
He assured the people of his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development across Kogi state.
The governor however expressed satisfaction during the inspection of the school and the flyover, which the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abubakar Ohere promised would be delivered by December.
Meanwhile, at the Ganaja flyover, Commissioner for Works, Engr Abubakar Ohere, led the Governor round the site where he explained that significant portion of work have been completed.
He explained that 99 piles have been sunk underground, while 50 out of the 60 beams required have been completed, in addition to drainages, assuring that the project would be delivered by the scheduled date.
At the Model Science Secondary School, Adankolo, Governor Bello expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, stressing that the project underscores his administration’s passion for the state education sector.
Apart from the flyover, school and the Specialist Hospital, the Governor also inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Paparanda Square- Nataco jucntion portion of the township road in the metropolis as well as the construction of Gegu-Beki General Hospital in Kogi Local Government Area of the state.
