My dear Dr Victor Adoji – By Haruspice

I must extend my heartfelt congratulations to you for your stellar performance in the recent elections. The brilliance of your mind, the boldness of your spirit, and the sagacity of your political maneuvers were a testament to the fact that Kogi East is endowed with human resources that rival any other region in the land. Truly, Igala is blessed to count among its own a person of your calibre and distinction.

When you threw your hat into the ring to compete with Echocho for the senatorial seat, the entire Igala nation rejoiced. For we knew that no matter the outcome, the victory would belong to our people. It was a contest between two brothers who shared common traits and were both celebrated equally. We were optimistic that despite the intensity of the political struggle, the bond of brotherhood that unites you and Echocho would remain unbroken. Though you competed on different platforms, we understood that you both shared the same dreams and aspirations for the progress of our land. Personally, I believe that the difference in the votes you garnered was a product of the political climate at the time, and not a reflection of your individual worth or popularity.

To truly appreciate your achievement, one must delve into your personal history and evaluate your unique qualities as leaders and community builders. As icons of the corporate world and pillars of strength in the financial realm, you and Echocho boast enviable reputations that inspire admiration and respect. As young men navigating the competitive business world, you rose from humble beginnings through sheer hard work and exceptional talent, shining like beacons of hope and service to your community.

Like mighty iroko trees, you provide shade and comfort to the youth of our land, offering employment opportunities and supporting those with entrepreneurial drive and passion. You are among the few Igala sons who remain deeply connected to your roots, understanding that nurturing the very essence of your being is the surest path to securing a brighter future for our people. Your philanthropic endeavours are etched in the hearts of every household and community, earning you the love and adoration of your people. Through your blessings, many others have been uplifted and enriched.

As I read your eloquent message of appreciation, I saw a man who is truly grateful for the overwhelming love and support he has received from his cherished people. Your brothers and sisters are not surprised by the outpouring of affection, for they know that you are a source of warmth in the cold harmattan and a shelter in the stormy rainy season. You are a shining example of what it means to be a true son of the soil, and we are proud to call you our own.

The elections of February 25 and March 18, 2023 have come and gone, leaving behind both sweet and sour memories, depending on which side of the fence one stands. While the polls were not flawless, they have given rise to a new hope for the future of democracy in our nation, as many incumbent Governors and Parliamentarians were unseated. However, we must not be swayed by foreign media, as it is our responsibility to shape our own narrative on local issues.

The United States presidential election of 2020 was also not without its share of controversies, yet the citizens of America remain undaunted in their quest to build a better future for themselves. There were allegations of voter suppression, concerns about the reliability and security of mail-in ballots due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and accusations of foreign interference. Despite all these challenges, America’s citizens remained resilient, knowing that a strong institution is not built overnight.

It is time for Adoji to put aside his grievances and join hands with Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho in building the Kogi East of our dreams. Instead of heading to court, Adoji should share his legislative agenda with Echocho and work together to leverage their shared wisdom and intelligence. As a man of honour and humility, Echocho would lead the charge toward a prosperous and emancipated Kogi East.

It is important to note that Echocho’s victory does not make him superhuman than Adoji. The difference in their votes may be attributed to the prevailing political dynamics. Ultimately, the professional accomplishments and love for Kogi East shared by both candidates are like the difference between six and half a dozen. And who says Echocho may not be instrumental to the realization of Adoji’s political ambition in the future? He should not whittle his relationship with Echocho by dragging him to Court on issues that are common to the entire election exercise in Nigeria.

Let’s not enrich lawyers on needless litigations, that monies can be used to develop more Adojis and Echochos in Kogi East.
