Natasha’s Failed Attempt to Stop Recall Process Through Court Confirms Her Disconnect from Masses – Group

The Kogi Central Women Development Association has reacted to the latest ruling by a Federal High Court, which set aside an earlier order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from receiving a petition for the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement issued on Friday, the spokesperson of the group, Omole Charity Ijese, criticized the senator’s legal efforts to halt the recall process, describing it as an act of desperation. They argued that her attempt to block the petition through the courts indicates that she is aware of her dwindling support among her constituents.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s desperation to stop her recall already shows that she knows she is as good as gone,” the statement read.
The group emphasized that no court order can prevent a recall process initiated by the people, stressing that the senator should return home and engage with her constituents rather than seeking legal protection.
“It is not the court that can stop the recall. If she believes she has truly served the people well, she should come back home and speak to them. Her continuous legal battles only confirm her disconnect from the masses,” the association stated.
The recall process against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been a topic of heated debate in Kogi Central, with some residents accusing her of failing to represent their interests effectively. The initial court injunction had stalled INEC’s involvement, but with the latest ruling, the electoral body may now proceed with considering the petition.
The Kogi Central Women Development Association reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the democratic process is upheld, urging INEC to act in line with the law and respect the will of the people.
