Nationwide Protest: Kogi Residients Shun Protest, Open Markets as Youth Engagement Summit Enters Day-2

In a striking contrast to the nationwide protest sweeping across Nigeria, the residents of Kogi State, have chosen a different path. As other states grapple with demonstrations and street closures, Kogi’s bustling markets remain open, and the atmosphere is one of business as usual. This divergence comes as the Youth Engagement Summit in the state capital, Lokoja, enters its second day.

The summit, which has drawn youth leaders, policymakers, and activists from across the state, aims to address pressing issues facing young Nigerians, including unemployment, education, and civic participation. Organized by the Kogi State Government in collaboration with all Youths and students bodies in the state, the event seeks to foster dialogue and develop actionable solutions to address challenges facing the state and nation.

The decision by Kogi residents to shun the protests has been commended as reasonable approach to national issues. Local business owners and market vendors have expressed relief, noting that the continuity of daily commerce is crucial for their livelihoods.
