Governors from the North Central zone elected under the All Progressives Congress, alongside the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and other key stakeholders, have expressed strong confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

At a meeting held on Wednesday night in Abuja, North Central APC leaders and stakeholders unanimously endorsed President Tinubu for a second term, according to a communiqué released on Thursday.

Present at the meeting were Governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Hyacinth Iormem Alia (Benue), alongside SGF George Akume.

Other notable attendees included APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje; former governors Simon Bako Lalong (Plateau), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger); former Deputy Speaker Ahmed Wase; Ministers Zaphaniah Jisalo (Special Duties), Lateef Fagbemi (Attorney General and Justice), Mohammed Idris (Information), and Prof. Joseph Utsev (Water Resources), among others.

The communiqué, read and signed by Governor Sule of Nasarawa, highlighted the SGF’s motion urging the North Central region to support President Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027 to continue his impactful leadership.

Leaders from the zone expressed sincere gratitude to Tinubu for the significant developmental efforts underway across the region.

They noted that projects spanning infrastructure development, road rehabilitation, education improvements, rural electrification, and agriculture are steadily transforming the North Central into a hub of opportunity and progress.

The communiqué stated in part, “We acknowledge these efforts as a clear demonstration of the President’s sincere commitment to equity and national development.

“Having critically examined the current trajectory of national governance and recognising the courage, foresight, and tenacity with which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has steered the ship of state amidst daunting challenges, we unanimously pass a vote of confidence in his administration.

“In furtherance of this conviction, we wholeheartedly endorse President Tinubu to contest for a second term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027, to consolidate the gains of his reforms and bring them to full fruition.

“We commend the leadership of the APC at the national level under the able stewardship of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for promoting internal democracy, party unity, and progressive governance.

“We affirm our unwavering loyalty and alignment with the core ideals of the APC and express full confidence in the party leadership’s ability to lead us to future electoral victories.”

The North Central leaders also praised President Tinubu for his inclusive and meritocratic appointments of individuals from the region to prominent federal government positions, fostering a sense of belonging and enabling active contribution to national development.

The communiqué continued, “As stakeholders of the APC in North Central, we reaffirm our collective commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, fostering unity among leaders, and supporting government policies prioritising security, job creation, and economic revitalisation.

“We recognise the bold steps taken by President Tinubu in stabilising the national economy, restoring investor confidence, reforming critical institutions, and implementing difficult but necessary fiscal policies aimed at long-term national prosperity.”

In his remarks, North Central APC Coordinator and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq commended Tinubu for the national forest guard’s policy, describing it as a courageous initiative that prioritises local communities in the nation’s security strategy.

He stated, “On May 24 last year, we presented several requests to the President, including the establishment of the North Central Development Commission to coordinate our regional developmental priorities.

“Less than a year later, the commission has been established, with our sons and daughters appointed to lead it. This is a significant victory for us, and we are grateful to Mr President.

“We also thank him for new infrastructural projects and appointments for North Central.

“We appreciate the national forest guard’s policy, a bold effort placing local communities at the heart of our national security strategy.”

AbdulRazaq expressed confidence that the forest guard policy will effectively protect forests and reduce activities threatening lives, property, and Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

He acknowledged that despite initial challenges during the transition, President Tinubu’s reforms are already producing positive results across key economic indicators, with a promising outlook for the future.

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje praised President Tinubu for initiating significant reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria.

“We thank Mr President for providing an enabling environment for our party and for implementing positive reforms that make the APC attractive, allowing people to see it as the party to join,” Ganduje said.
