Need to Introduce State-specific Security Network like Amotekun in Kogi State – Olugbemi

The Chairman of Okun Media Professionals and Chairman/CEO of Michabifem Ventures Limited publisher of Democracy Newsline Newspaper and Online blog, Chief Olugbemi Femi has called on the Kogi State Government to raise above board to establish Kogi State Security Network like the Amotekun in the South West Nigeria to curb crimes and criminalities in the state.

The veteran journalist disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in Lokoja, reflecting on the need for the authority to confront the menace of kidnapping, killing, banditry,  armed robbery and other crimes through a state sponsored security organization to compliment the federal agencies in the security sector.

He called on the Kogi State House of Assembly to work on the legal framework that will give legal backing to the security network to arrest, investigate and prosecute offenders within the state.

According to him introducing a state-specific security network like Amotekun in Kogi State could be beneficial for several reasons:

  1. Unique Security Needs: Kogi State faces distinct security challenges, including kidnapping, killings, banditry, armed robbery, and communal clashes. A state-specific security network can address these unique needs.
