Nigeria Korea Institute Hosts Memorial Lecture, Unveils Strategic Plan, Award Fellowship to Distinguished Persons

In a significant event commemorating the legacy of the late Prof. Matthew Idowu Ajibero, the Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute (NKFI) is set to host a Memorial Lecture on the 28th of November, 2024 at the Institute. The event will not only honor the esteemed academic but also unveil the Institute’s strategic plan for 2024-2030, marking a pivotal moment in the Institute’s commitment to fostering educational collaboration and technology exchange between Nigeria and South Korea.

The keynote lecture with theme : Developing the capacity of Entrepreneurs, the role of Vocational and Technical Education will be delivered by Dr. Lamidi Kehinde, a distinguished scholar renowned for his insightful contributions to the field of international relations and cultural diplomacy. Dr. Kehinde’s address is expected to inspire attendees, emphasizing the importance of educational partnerships in enhancing mutual understanding and development.

Following the lecture, the Institute will confer Fellowship awards to notable individuals, including His Excellencies Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo and Capt. Idris Wada. These awards recognize their outstanding contributions to community development and their support of the Institute’s mission.

Additional Fellowship and meritorious awards will be presented to other distinguished Kogi indigenes, including Pastor (Mrs) Folashade Ayoade Arike, PhD, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State; Barrister Ladi Jatoo (OON); Barr Steve Onoja; Alhaji Y.Y. Okala; Hon. Wemi Jones; and Hon. Yakubu Adabenege, among others. These accolades reflect the Institute’s commitment to honoring those who have made substantial contributions to society and the Institute.

The event will be chaired by the distinguished Senator Steve Karimi, with Hon. James Abiodun Faleke serving as the Chairman of the Planning Committee. Special guest Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, the Gabi of Lokoja, will also be in attendance, while the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria , His Excellency, Vice Admiral Kim Pankyu will be in attendance as Chief Host , his presence further highlights the significance of this gathering.

Royal fathers of the day, including the Obaro of Kabba, the Maigari of Lokoja, and the Olu Apata of Apata, Oworo, will grace the occasion, lending their esteemed presence to the proceedings.

In addition to the keynote lecture and award presentations, attendees can look forward to an exhibition showcasing the works accomplished by the Institute. This exhibition will provide a platform for participants to engage with the Institute’s initiatives and achievements, reinforcing its role as a beacon of educational and cultural collaboration.
