November poll: do not to burn down state over election defeat – Kogi youths caution SDP candidate, Ajaka
…ask him to embrace peace like other contestants at the poll
Youths and women from across the three senatorial district of Kogi state have called on the candidate of the Social Democratic Party at the November 11, gubernatorial election alongside his supporters not to burn down that state over his lack of sportsmanship and refusal to accept defeat.
Speaking on their behalf during a peaceful protest in Lokoja on Friday, Nihi Oladele, said Kogi state belonged to all of the citizen irrespective of their political parties and ethnicity, stressing if the state is thrown into a state of anarchy, there would not be a place to live and govern.
He said ‘’We the youths want to appeal to Murtala Ajaka and his supporters that in seeking redress, they should go about the process lawfully, calmly and without instigating the public against the electoral institution’’.
He said as youths, their disposition is that the November 11 elections has been contested, winners and losers have emerged and the sanity of the process and the outcome must be duly protected in a peaceful manner.
Nihi similarly urged youths to go about their endeavours without fight, stating that the governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ododo would be the governor for all, hence their appeal for him to carry everyone along, irrespective of their individual differences and political disparities.
Also speaking on behalf of the young women, Mrs Ireti olukomogbon, noted that they were surprised that the SDP candidate is trying to set the people against the electoral umpire with his incessant and unfounded allegations against the INEC.
She said the election of November 11 in Kogi was free and fair while appealing to the SDP candidate and supporters to embrace peace and work together with the candidate that has emerged.
“Kogi people has shown clearly that they stand with Kogi agenda and the youths and women demography will support Alhaji Usman ododo to succeed”, She said.
