NUT Ankpa Chapter Passes Vote of Confidence on Governor Ododo

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ankpa Local Government Chapter, has passed a vote of confidence in the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, commending his administration for what it described as dynamic leadership marked by tangible achievements.
During an interactive session held at the Ankpa Local Government Secretariat, the Union, led by its Chairman, Comrade Ogagwu Jerome, expressed deep satisfaction with the Governor’s leadership style, particularly his commitment to education and welfare of teachers.


In his remarks, Comrade Ogagwu praised Governor Ododo for prioritizing the prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and leave bonuses, describing these as critical financial reliefs that demonstrate respect for the teaching profession. He called on Union members to remain committed to the collective development of Kogi State and Ankpa Local Government, stressing that progress is a shared responsibility.
The NUT Chairman also announced the Union’s endorsement of Governor Ododo for a second term in office, describing him as “a beacon of hope, progress, and positive change,” and credited his administration with significantly improving the education sector in the state.
“Our members and their families hereby pledge our full support and voting strength to Governor Ododo. There is no vacancy in the Lugard House in 2027 until he completes his eight-year tenure,” Comrade Ogagwu declared.
Comrade Ogagwu also lauded the Ankpa Local Government Chairman, Engineer Ademu Mohammed Yahaya, for fostering strong collaboration between the local government and the teaching community. He praised Engr. Ademu’s efforts in promoting education, security, and initiatives such as the “Operation Let There Be School Uniform and Writing Materials for All Pupils” programme.
Representing the Kogi State Chapter of the NUT, Comrade Alhaji Dauda Yakubu expressed gratitude to Engr. Ademu for his contributions to improving security and education in Ankpa. He also commended Governor Ododo’s leadership qualities, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver even greater development if re-elected.
Speaking on behalf of the Ankpa Council Chairman, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Halimat Imam, thanked the Union for its support and confidence. She underscored the administration’s appreciation for teachers, affirming the government’s recognition of their pivotal role in shaping society.


“Teachers are not slaves of government. Their reward starts here on earth. We value your work, and you will continue to have our listening ear and support,” she said.
Highlights of the event included the formal endorsement of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term by the NUT Ankpa Chapter, a vote of confidence in Engr. Ademu Mohammed Yahaya, and the presentation of a certificate of endorsement to the Council Chairman.

The well-attended meeting drew participants from diverse sectors, including political leaders, religious and community leaders, members of the local legislative council, senior council officials, and other dignitaries.
