Ododo Inspects Key Projects Across Kabba/Bunu, Reaffirms Grassroots Development Drive

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State on Friday embarked on an extensive inspection tour of ongoing government projects across Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and service delivery at the grassroots.

During the visit, the Governor assessed several completed and ongoing projects in healthcare, education, and environmental sectors, engaging directly with residents and community leaders.

At Agbadu Bunu, Ododo inspected a newly completed Primary Healthcare Centre equipped with solar power, water facilities, and staff quarters. He commended the community for supporting the project and urged them to take ownership of the facility, emphasizing that his visit was “not political but purely developmental.”

He also encouraged residents to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the President’s economic reforms have enabled states to execute more people-focused projects.

The Governor’s next stop was Ayegunle Igun Bunu, where he inspected another completed healthcare centre — the first visit by a sitting governor to the community. He assured the people that his administration would sustain policies that promote inclusion and balanced development.

At Okebukun Bunu, Ododo inspected a Model Secondary School described as an architectural masterpiece, featuring a 500-seater Computer-Based Test hall. He was received by excited students and community leaders who praised his efforts to transform the educational landscape.

The Governor also paid a courtesy visit to the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of Okun Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Owoniyi, where he was received by royal fathers from across Okunland. The traditional ruler lauded Ododo’s developmental strides, especially his attention to the Kogi State University, Kabba.

Ododo, in response, described the traditional institution as a vital partner in governance and peacebuilding, promising continued collaboration to maintain harmony across the state.

He later met with stakeholders and community leaders in Kabba/Bunu, where he rendered an account of his stewardship and received assurances of continued support. The Governor also joined Muslim faithful for Jumu’ah prayers at Kabba Central Mosque, preaching unity and inclusiveness.

Inspecting the multi-billion-naira ecological project in Kabba designed to control erosion and protect residential areas, the Governor assured residents that no community would be left out of his administration’s development plan.

Highlighting achievements under the Kogi ACReSAL Project, Ododo disclosed that the initiative has boosted land restoration, climate resilience, and agricultural productivity. He said the OMIGBO Gully Channelization and Stabilization Project in Kabba is now 98 percent complete and will soon be expanded to reclaim more degraded land.

According to him, over 7,000 farmers across Kogi West have benefited from government support in land restoration, tractor services, seedlings, and funding, covering nearly 600 hectares of farmland — with Kabba/Bunu accounting for 130 hectares and 1,300 farmers.

He added that the reforestation component of the project has restored 184 hectares through tree planting, while the Community Revolving Fund has empowered 790 beneficiaries across the district, including 243 from Kabba/Bunu.

The Governor further announced the provision of 16 solar-powered boreholes in underserved communities — six of them in Kabba/Bunu — with 13 more approved for Okunland. He also revealed that a modern greenhouse facility has been approved for Kogi State University, Kabba, to enhance agricultural research and training.

Ododo later visited a local entrepreneur whose shop was recently gutted by fire, offering words of encouragement and support.

At the ongoing Senate Building of Kogi State University, Kabba, he commended the progress recorded under his administration, saying the visible transformation across the state “is our own noise without words.”

The Governor was accompanied on the inspection tour by federal and state lawmakers, local government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
