Ododo Seeks Cohesion Among Stakeholders in Omala »

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has called for greater unity and enhanced stakeholder engagement among political office holders in Omala Local Government Area, urging them to work collaboratively in the overall interest of the people.

The Governor made the appeal during a meeting with key leaders from Omala Local Government at the Government House in Lokoja. The delegation included the local government chairman, commissioner, and member of the State House of Assembly.

He emphasized that effective grassroots governance rests on the collective responsibility of elected and appointed officials, challenging them to set aside personal differences and embrace constructive dialogue with stakeholders, community leaders, and traditional institutions.

Governor Ododo encouraged the leaders to initiate meaningful consultations that would promote mutual understanding, peace, and sustainable development in the area.

He commended the Chairman of Omala Local Government for efforts aimed at addressing insecurity and lauded stakeholders for their cooperation and sincerity. The Governor also acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, describing them as indispensable partners in community development and stability.
The Governor urged all leaders and residents of Omala to remain united, tolerant, and committed to peaceful coexistence.

In their separate remarks, stakeholders expressed appreciation to the Governor for his continued attention to the area. They particularly thanked him for granting local stakeholders the opportunity to determine the political leadership of the local government and for appointing indigenes of Omala into strategic positions within the state government.

However, they appealed for urgent government intervention in critical infrastructure, including electricity supply, road construction, and water projects, and called for the accelerated completion of ongoing works.

The Chairman of Omala Local Government, Mark Ameh, commended the Governor for strides recorded in tackling insecurity in Kogi East and for initiatives that have contributed to stabilizing food prices, particularly through the reopening of previously closed markets.

Ameh reaffirmed the people’s continued support for the Governor and pledged their commitment ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Similarly, the member representing the area in the State House of Assembly, Umar Yahaya, reiterated the local government’s support for the Governor’s re-election bid, citing developmental efforts recorded in the area.

The State Security Adviser noted that peace has largely been restored in Omala, attributing the improvement to the Governor’s leadership and the collaboration between the local government authorities and security agencies. He also appealed for the establishment of a police station in Bagana and for measures to boost revenue generation through increased commercial activities at the local market.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State, Abdullahi Bello, described Omala leaders as dependable and assured the Governor of their commitment to delivering electoral victory in the forthcoming election.

The meeting concluded with renewed calls for unity, sustained peace, and accelerated development across Omala Local Government Area.
