The immediate-past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, on Sunday was received by mammoth crowd on his home coming to Agasa after a successful tenure as governor of Kogi State.

Bello’s first point of call was at his late mother’s residence in Nagazi where special prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of her soul.

Before proceeding to his country home Agasa, the former governor in company of the incumbent governor paid a royal visit to the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Ahmedtijani Muhammed Anaje at his palace in Okene.

While thanking the people for the warm reception he received, Bello told his kinsmen that he was able to fulfilled his desire of becoming the governor of Kogi State who will make impact in the lives of the people. He said left the State better than he met and assured that haven laid solid foundation for economic and infrastructural advancement of the State, the incumbent governor Ahmed Usman Ododo will consolidate and build on his achievements.

He thanked the people and the traditional rulers for their support for his administration throughout his time in office. The immediate-past governor called on the people to extend similar support to governor Usman Ododo noting that their support will go along way and fast tracking the development of the State.

On his part, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty Ahmedtijani Muhammed Anaje described the tenure of Yahaya Bello, as remarkable .

“Your Excellency, i welcome you to home and to my palace after your successful reign as the governor of Kogi State. Today, my joy and the joy of your ancestors knows no bound for you have delivered our message to the world by the exemplary leadership you’ve provided. You have changed the story of Kogi State for good in terms development. Your impact in the health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development are a testament to the commitment and courage with which you governed our State in your 8-year tenure”, he said.

The royal father commended the Yahaya Bello for some of the brave and courageous decisions he has made for the interest of the people of Kogi State.

“I want to commend you specifically for some of the brave and courageous decisions you have taken just for the interest of the people of Kogi State especially in the installation of traditional rulers in various kingdoms across the state. You have done us proud and have written the name of Kogi State on the map of global history for good”, he added.

HRM Anaje praised Yahaya Bello for complimenting his administration by producing a worthy successor who has learned the rope of leadership under his administration for over seven years.

In Agasa, it was a carnival-like celebration as it was a joyous moment for the people as they received their son in grand style. Bello thanked his family members for their unalloyed support in his life while assuring he will never turn back at them.

Sworn-in January 27, 2016 as the 4th democratically elected governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello completed his two-term in office January 27, 2024 leaving behind a state better than he met in 2016.
