Okpo United Emerges Champions of Olamaboro Unity Football Tournament

The Olamaboro Unity Football Cup concluded today with Okpo United clinching victory over Obele Bombers of Ogugu in a thrilling final match. Imane United secured third place in the keenly contested tournament, which brought excitement and unity to the local government area.

Recall that the Unity Football Tournament which kicked off in Olamaboro on the 20th of December featured teams from the three districts of the local government: Okpo, Imane, and Ogugu.

The final, held at the QIC field in Okpo, witnessed a large turnout of spectators, including top government officials, indigenes of Olamaboro returning home for the Christmas festivities, and passionate football fans.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, who organized the tournament, expressed delight at the success of the competition, emphasizing its role in promoting grassroots sports and fostering unity among the three districts of the local government: Okpo, Ogugu, and Imane.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Anyebe commended all participating teams for their sportsmanship and resilience, noting that the tournament had achieved its goal of bringing the community together through sports which he noted was in line with the vision of Governor Usman Ododo.

The Ejeh of Olamaboro, HRH, Ujah Simeon, along with other dignitaries at the event praised the organizer, Hon. Monday Anyebe for the initiative and called for its continuation as an annual event to nurture local talent and strengthen bonds among the people of Olamaboro.
