Placing Kogi at the Center – By Amb. Aliyu Mahmud

I am greatly happy about Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida’s emergence as the new President of the NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN). It’s not just a personal victory for him but a collective win for the entire people of Kogi State, especially the youth.
A classical demonstration of what can be achieved when vision meets support, and when leadership provides the enabling environment for young people to rise.
What began as a simple aspiration to give Kogi a louder voice in the national youth space metamorphosed into a historic reality.
The victory did not come by chance; it was made possible through the incredible support of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, and the passionate determination of Kogi youths who rallied behind one of their own
The Governor, didn’t just give his support in words, we saw him personally lead the way by taking the aspirant to meet with fellow Governors and Federal Ministers, helping him build bridges of support that ultimately strengthened his chances. Such gestures are rare in today’s political space and speak volumes about the Governor’s genuine commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment.
That alone was a demonstration of true leadership by taking ownership of the dream and ensuring it became a shared mission. This success will definitely position Kogi at the very heart of youth leadership in Nigeria and open a new chapter for our young people to influence national policies, advocate for reforms, and showcase the talent, intellect, and leadership capacity that abound in our state.
As we celebrate this success, I join millions of Kogi youths to congratulate my brother Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida and also extend our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for believing in the youth and for proving that when given the right platform and support, young people can lead with excellence.
