Kogi NYCN Elders Council Reject Suspension of Former Leaders, Demand Apology

The Council of Elders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State Chapter, has dismissed the purported suspension of four prominent members by the state chairman, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale, declaring it null and void.

The affected individuals include Engr. Godwin S.B. Emmanuel, a former NYCN state chairman and elder; Hon. Isah Emmanuel Ojobunwene Mario, an ex-state secretary and stakeholder; as well as Destiny Ali Keller and Sunday Alih.

In a statement signed by the Council of Elders Chairman, Dr. Haroun Opotu Yussuff, and Secretary, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, the elders emphasized that the chairman lacked the authority to unilaterally suspend members without the consent of the NYCN management.

They further argued that Engr. Emmanuel and Hon. Ojobunwene Mario were not part of the current executive and, therefore, could not be subjected to the chairman’s directives. The elders also discredited the three-man review committee set up by the chairman, stating that it had no constitutional backing within the NYCN framework.

The Council of Elders called for the immediate disregard of the suspension and urged the chairman to issue a formal apology. They also appealed for calm among the affected members, emphasizing the unity of the NYCN family.
