Rep. Halims Calls For Rehabilitation Of Kogi – Benue – Nasarawa States Link Road, Pushes Completion Of Ankpa – Onyagede Road

The Deputy Majority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives and Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has drawn the attention of the federal government on the need to rehabilitate Emere – Okaba – Adoka Road to Anyigba – Ankpa – Otukpa Road and Complete the Abandoned Ankpa – Onyagede Road in Kogi State.

In a matter of urgent public importance moved on the floor of the House, the Deputy House Leader prayed the lower chamber to among other prayers resolve on urging the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to make provisions for the general maintenance of Anyagba – Ankpa – Otukpa roads in the 2023 to 2024 budget estimates.

While making his presentation on the flood of the House, Rep. Halims “notes that Ankpa – Onyagede road is a major road which connects Kogi State to Northern and Southern States of Nigeria traversing four constituencies in Kogi, Benue and Nasarawa States through which farmers and traders transport goods and services” as he urged the house to mandate the Committee on Works, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Ecological Fund to ensure compliance.

Worried that a portion of the Emere – Okaba – Adoka road in Kogi State is seriously damaged as a result of gully erosion and now a death trap, a den of Kidnappers leading to loss of lives, good and services worth millions of Naira;

He further urged the House to resolve in urging the Ecological Fund Office to remedy the ecological challenge posed by gully erosion on the Emere – Okaba – Adoka road and also ensure the provision of Fund in the 2024 budget estimates to comprehensively solve the Ecological challenge of the dilapidated 100KM Emere – Okaba – Adoka road in the 2024 budget estimates.

While seconding the motion, the Honourable Member Representing Ado/ Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, Hon. Philip Agbese described the motion as a problem that is peculiar with almost all part of the country but emphasized on the significance of farmers and traders as highlighted by the mover of the motion and called on his distinguished colleagues to support the prayers which were agreed upon in a voice vote.
