Security Adviser Intensifies Efforts to Curb Crisis in Omala, Olamaboro

The Zonal Security Adviser to the Kogi State Governor for the Ankpa Federal Axis, Rt. Hon. Chief Ahmed Mohammed, has taken decisive steps to address the persistent security challenges in Omala Local Government Area, following a directive from Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

During a recent visit to Omala, the adviser engaged with relevant stakeholders and assessed the situation, particularly the recurring crises linked to herder-related conflicts in the area. As part of measures to restore peace, he approved the deployment of over 20 local hunters to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army in safeguarding lives and property and promoting peaceful coexistence.

Chief Ahmed emphasized the need for strengthened inter-agency collaboration, urging security operatives to work in synergy rather than in isolation. He also called for proactive and decisive action, noting that adequate logistical support had been provided to enhance operational efficiency.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, Hon. Mark Edibo, expressed concern over what he described as growing indiscipline within the Patani community, attributing it as a major factor fueling the recurring unrest.

He urged residents to adhere strictly to established rules and regulations to foster peace and stability.

The chairman further cautioned residents of Patani, identified as a key flashpoint, to maintain lawful conduct, stressing that all individuals within the community must respect constituted authority and comply with security directives.

Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. David Damang, reaffirmed the commitment of the police to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure lasting peace in the area.

The meeting brought together critical stakeholders, including community leaders from Patani, traditional authorities, security personnel, and other prominent figures.

In a related development, the security adviser redeployed no fewer than 20 personnel of the Nigerian Forest Security Service to Olamaboro Local Government Area to strengthen ongoing security operations in collaboration with the police.

He warned the personnel against acts of truancy and insubordination, stressing that discipline and professionalism would be strictly enforced, with defaulters facing appropriate sanctions.
