SEMA Re-trains Staff for Effective Flood Management Ahead of 2024 Impending Flood Disaster

As part of her preparation for the impending flood disaster in Kogi state, the State Emergency Management Agency has taken a further step towards flood disaster management by organizing training in partnership with Nigeria Red Cross Society for the Staff of the Agency.

According to SEMA Executive Secretary, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, disaster management requires a holistic approach and therefore training and retraining of Staff to boost their capacity and capability to handle the impending flood disaster.

The facilitator from Nigeria Red Cross Society, Mr Abdulkadir Abubakar maintained that staff training ahead of any disaster is a necessary tool for effective management of displaced population and resource management.

He emphasized that SEMA is the lead agency in disaster management and therefore must have quality manpower to manage disaster effectively.

During the training, the facilitator focused on areas of coordination and networking, camp management procedure, field reporting amongst others.

Reacting, the Head of Admin Department of the Agency, Hajia Raliat Lami Idakwoji, on behalf of the staff expressed her profound gratitude to the Executive Secretary for the timely initiative. She stressed further that the impact of the training is enormous and would strengthen further the staff performances when deplored to the field during the impending 2024 flood disaster. She equally appreciated the facilitator from Nigeria Red Cross for his quality delivery.
