Sen. Ohere, Kogi Central People’s Quest, 2027 Another Time to Right Institutional Wrong

There is no need crying over split milk. The victory of Sen. Abubakar Ohere, truncated by the Court was no doubt a set back when juxtaposed with the mileage he covered in his brief stay in the 10th Senate.

While it was safe to say that Sen. Ohere laid some of the building blocks that the Senate is leveraging upon today in some motion and bills he moved, his contribution is never in doubt in the hall of fame, when you look at the Local Content bill and several others he initiated before his exit.

Over the years, Sen. Ohere has remained a leading light fighting the emancipation of the vulnerable and downtrodden. This can be viewed from his perspectives in addressing historical injustices and promoting fairness in the Central District.

While majority of the people are seeking to in 2027 redress what they think was the wrong done in time past, it is already dominating public discuss, as citizens have begun advocating for institutional reforms to ensure equity and justice.

Furthermore, in some thoughts, the need to reconsider and reward Sen. Ohere with a return ticket for the Senate has been on the lips of many. Without mincing words, Sen. Ohere has implanted and engrained himself in the hearts of the people of Kogi Central by reasons of selfless services to the people.

A man with a cosmopolitan approach to life, over the years, Sen. Ohere has build bridges across political party, religious and ethnic divide, making him a pan Nigeria, a quality needed for a better society.

Several evidence abound, that are verifiable, shows that the people of Kogi Central district are united in their quest for justice and fairness, with Sen. Ohere at the forefront of what they term should be a movement in 2027.

Sen. Ohere is being urged to recontest the Senatorial seat in 2027, with the Lions Club of Ebiraland declaring their total support for him. His past performance in the Senate showcased his ability to speak boldly for the people, initiate development-driven motions, and push for projects benefiting his constituency.

Given the current political landscape, it’s likely that Sen. Ohere’s experience and reputation will make him a strong contender for the 2027 Senatorial election as well as right the wrong felt by the people who are the worst hit after what they say as Judicial robbery.

Ohere’s few months in the Senate, with impact and accomplishment, put the Central district in the news for good as against what happened after his exit, is what is informing the need for his return to the Senate to complete the good works he started.

Sen. Ohere has made significant strides in addressing the needs of his constituents, reason there’s a strong desire for him to continue his good work. With his experience and track record, he’s well-positioned to drive positive change and complete the projects he started.

Sen. Ohere’s clamour by the people according to Sanusi Saidat, will amongst others, address historical injustices, promote fairness and equity.

Similarly, the thinking of Mukaila Jimoh is his courage in advocating institutional reforms and Community empowerment

While in the Senate, Sen. Ohere’s preoccupation saw his efforts directed at advocating for the rights of the people, pushing for policy changes to address institutional wrong and empowering communities to demand justice. His voice was loud and clear in the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company.

Sen. Ohere is a maverick politician. An engineer from Kogi State. Born on July 13, 1966, in Okene LGA, he’s a prominent figure in Kogi State politics having washed his hands clean and come to equity. He is known for his expertise in engineering and commitment to development using the instrumentality of politics.

Sen. Ohere’s vision for service and representation has always emphasized warmth, trust, and communion, focusing on effective servant leadership that should drive development.

There is no doubt that a Sen. Ohere’s return will enable him focus on moving for motion; Completing ongoing federal projects in the Central, addressing community needs, promoting development and growth as well empowering local communities.

This expectations is rife as Sen. Ohere is reputed to be one who knows his onions in advocating for the people, effective representation in the Senate, producing tangible results and progress, as well as build on his existing momentum he left before his exit.

Sen. Ohere attended St. Andrew’s School, Okene (1975) and Lennon Memorial College, Ageva (1979), Obtained Ordinary National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, and Higher National Diploma from Federal Polytechnic, Idah (1992).

He holds a Master’s degree in Mining Engineering (M.Eng.) from Federal University of Technology, Akure and was Awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy of Science by State University of New York, USA (2017)

Sen. Ohere joined the Federal Civil Service in 1996, work as a field engineer and rose to management level in Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, before his call to serve as Special Adviser and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kogi State (2016-2019).
He was appointed Commissioner for Works and Housing, Kogi State (2020-2022),
contested and won Kogi Central Senatorial Election (2023), but his victory was overturned by the Court of Appeal.

A Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Fellow, Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (IICA), Sen. Ohere is a Member, Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Member, Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG), outside the Senate has refired his zeal for the people of the Central, with intervention that has left people wondering, what manner of man will have the courage to forge on inspite the setback caused by institutional gaps.
