Subsidy Palliatives: Kogi NYCN urges Gov. Bello to introduce mass transit buses

The Kogi state chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has called on the state government to, as a matter of urgency put in places mechanisms to cushion the hardships caused by the removal of oil subsidy in the state.

The Council lauded President Bola Tinubu for the courage to get rid of the ‘obnoxious’ fuel subsidy policy, noting that the subsidy was a “channel for the perpetration of fraud by some criminal elements.”

This was contained in a communique issued after a management meeting of the Council signed by the Acting Chairman, Comr. Osiakor Sunday and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday.

The Council while expressing commitment to support the New Direction administration, called on the government to urgently provide subsidized and effective transportation system within Lokoja township, suburbs and other satellite towns in the state to help mitigate the suffering of the people.

The Council stressed that they are aware of holistic plans being put in by the state government to address the hardship occasioned by the subsidy removal, however noted that the provision of a subsidized and effective transportation system is immediately needed to help citizens move to their offices and business centers.
